Taunton Music Trust
OrchestraWest is both a Company Limited by Guarantee, and a Registered Charity. This means that it is subject to both Company and Charity Law, regulations and accounting requirements.
We thought this was important, since we wanted to ‘do it right’ from the outset, and subject both the financial transactions and the orchestra’s administration to the highest degree of transparency and probity possible.
We have five Trustees who meet four times a year:
- Christopher Davies CBE (Chair): former Director of Social Services in Somerset
- John Wakefield: company director
- Dr Julie Anne Sadie: musician, musicologist and writer
- Robert Miles: Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the Brewhouse Theatre and Arts Centre, Taunton
- Robert Homeshaw: retired
- Elizabeth Jackson: art director
The day to day administration is undertaken by:
- John Cole (Artistic Director)
- Anne Curtis (Company Secretary and Marketing Manager)
In addition, the Trustees and management are advised by:
- Barry Haskey (Leader)
- Martyn Owen (Player Representative)
- Dixon Walsh (Accountants)
- Clarke Willmott (Solicitors)
